Family and Medical Leave Insurance Program - For Employees
Family & Medical Leave Insurance Program (FAMLI)
The FAMLI program provides a partial wage replacement benefit to Colorado workers who need time away from work for certain life events, such as caring for a loved one with a serious health condition or growing a family. In addition to the partial wage replacement benefit, FAMLI also provides employment protections for individuals who have one year of service with their employer.
The Colorado Department of Labor & Employment (CDLE) is responsible for administering the FAMLI program. For more information on FAMLI, employees can find numerous resources on the CDLE website, including the Required FAMLI Program Notice available in English, Spanish, and many other languages.
For State Employees
The FAMLI program premium is 0.88% of gross wages, shared equally by you and the State.
State of Colorado employees can apply for Family and Medical Leave Insurance (FAMLI) benefits using the My FAMLI+ portal. Applications must be submitted 30 days in advance if the need for leave is foreseeable, or as soon as practicable when the need for leave is not foreseeable.
While the FAMLI program is administered through the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment, the State has put together an employee toolkit. Inside, employees will find resources from the FAMLI Division such as how-to videos for applying and FAQs from the Division of Human Resources. If you have a need for FAMLI leave or questions about how the program coordinates with your existing leave benefits, please contact your agency Human Resources office.
