State of Learning: Community of Practice

Community of Practice Purpose Statement
The State of Learning is a voluntary, collaborative community of practice designed to empower and support learning and development across the State of Colorado. Its purpose is to act as a mechanism for peer-to-peer knowledge and resource sharing, collective problem-solving, and advancing the professional practice of learning and development. The community of practice brings together professionals across State agencies who champion training, learning, development, and skill-building efforts for their teams.
Who is the Community of Practice for?
The State of Learning is for learning and development professionals across State agencies who facilitate and create training, and champion development and skill-building efforts for their teams. As experts in workforce readiness and talent development, community members bring specialized insights to the unique challenges and goals of their agencies.
What to Expect
The State of Learning: Community of Practice consists of the following components:
- Quarterly Meeting
The Quarterly Meeting is a meeting of members of the Community of Practice. The meeting purpose is to provide an opportunity for networking and upskilling. The meeting is on Google Meet.
- Google Space
The Google Space is a chat space to share insights, ask questions and collaborate. This is optional and available for Community of Practice members.
- Future Work Groups and Projects
As the State of Learning grows, there will be invitations to join work groups and projects to support the Community of Practice.

- Who can join the State of Learning Community of Practice?
The community of practice is open to learning and development professionals across State agencies who support, facilitate, or champion training, learning, and workforce development efforts.
- Is participation required?
Active engagement is encouraged but not required. Voluntary participation is designed to support professional learning, connection, and resource sharing.
- What does participation look like?
Members of the State of Learning Community of Practice are invited to attend the voluntary, quarterly virtual meeting focused on professional development, networking, and shared learning. Members are also encouraged to join the Google Chat Space to collaborate and get support as needed. There will be future work groups and projects that members will also be invited to join.
- Is this the same as the Learning Leaders Forum?
The State of Learning: Community of Practice builds on and expands the Learning Leaders Forum, offering a more collaborative and ongoing community space in addition to quarterly meetings.
- Do I need to attend every meeting to remain a member?
No. Members may participate as their schedules allow.
