What is a Learning Experience Platform (LXP)?

The LXP is a digital learning environment designed to maximize the learning experience for our diverse employees to create a more accessible, consistent, and engaging learning experience. The LXP prioritizes meaningful learning experiences that drive skill development, performance improvement, and organizational growth.

The LXP will not replace any agency Learning Management Systems (LMS). Instead it is an overlay and will supplement existing LMS, emphasizing ease of support for different sources of content. Transitioning to the LXP will prioritize learners and offer personalized, AI-driven content recommendations.

The LXP can be accessed at https://soclxp.edcast.com

Why is the State transitioning to the LXP for all compliance and DPA training?

The transition to the LXP will enable the State to provide the most engaging, and impactful learning experiences for classified employees under the Governor’s purview. The LXP will support Statewide content while providing better reporting capabilities as well as agency dashboards regarding compliance training completion.

Who will be impacted by this shift?

Employees in State Executive Branch agencies will be transferring to the new LXP.

Please Note: Employees from the Colorado Department of Higher Education, Colorado Department of Education, Colorado Judicial Branch, Colorado General Assembly, and Colorado office of the Attorney General are currently excluded from the LXP.

What are the benefits of implementing the LXP within State agencies?

The implementation of the LXP will enhance the accessibility, efficiency, and effectiveness of training programs across State agencies. This will support compliance training, provide insight into training effectiveness, increase access to professional development opportunities, and streamline reporting processes. Additionally:

  • DHR will be able to report statewide compliance training numbers as needed and will no longer require LMS Administrators to upload SCORM packages to agency learning management systems or report monthly completion numbers.
  • Enhanced reporting and analytics, including agency dashboards. Managers and group administrators will have the ability to see real-time data and agencies will no longer need to produce compliance training reports.
  • Mobile compatibility to provide learners access to content at a time and place that works best for them.
  • Discovering training opportunities is easier and more focused.
  • Agency-specific dashboards.
  • Content can be dynamically assigned to specific groups (e.g. Supervisors).
  • Access all compliance, Statewide, and COE training in one place.
Will the LXP be used for all statewide learning & development training?

Agencies within the Executive Branch, under the Governor’s purview will not be required to change their internal learning management systems. Those agencies outside of the Governor’s purview will have access to COTrain to complete compliance training. Please note, we are still in the process of addressing agency variations and nuances with our OIT and Cornerstone partners.

What DHR training will be provided through the LXP?

All DHR-offered courses will be provided through the Cornerstone LXP including courses provided by:

  • COE
  • Labor Relations
  • Statewide Equity Office
  • CSEAP
  • Payroll Modernization
  • Step Pay
  • Skills-based Hiring
  • Health of HR
How does the LXP support the goals of State agencies and initiatives?

The LXP supports various agency initiatives, including:

  • DPA Strategic Plan: Aligns with strategic goals such as modernizing the LMS, becoming an Employer of Choice, and refining funding/processes for efficiency.

  • Partnership Agreement: Facilitates training and performance management as outlined in partnership agreements and personnel rules.

  • Governor’s Initiatives: Supports the state's initiative to be an Employer of Choice by providing accessible professional development opportunities.
Who supports the implementation of the LXP?

The decision to move forward with the LXP was based on statewide feedback from agency leadership and employees. The implementation is supported by various entities, including COE, Labor Relations, the State Equity Office, Total Rewards, Workforce Solutions, and CSEAP.

Who is the point of contact for the LXP implementation?

Matthew Knight (matthew.knight@state.co.us), Learning & Development LXP Specialist, is the primary contact. All members of COE will also be able to provide a level of support. Agency & Institution appointed Group Leaders will also be trained to provide first-level support.

I have specific questions on how the LXP transition impacts my agency. What should I do?

Agency & Institution appointed admins are being trained to provide first-level support. You can always contact Learning & Development LXP Specialist, Matthew Knight (matthew.knight@state.co.us), and/or  dpa_prsnltraining@state.co.us with any questions related to the LXP.
